I’ve written before about the power of Twitter and other Social Media sites for helping business and how it has helped Whatswhat.ie, but recently Twitter proved its worth with brilliant results.

We’ve been hinting at great things happening with Whatswhat.ie and now we can let you all know that we have an investor who has also come on board as the Director of Strategy and Innovation.  And we met via Twitter.

Last December I was tweeting as usual and noticed @paraic chatting too. I looked at his bio on Twitter and it mentioned he was an Angel Investor. Knowing we were looking for an investor at the time I asked him what he did. After a few dm’s and emails we all met up and a few months later Paraic Hegarty has joined Whatswhat.ie

Barbara and I always knew we would be very choosy who would join us, investment or not, as we have our vision of Whatswhat.ie and the person would have to see the same as we do. Thankfully Paraic can see the potential of Whatswhat.ie and how it can help SME’s get a presence on the internet at a very small cost – see our Advertising Packages starting at only €5+vat a month.

With Paraic joining Whatswhat.ie we are now able to have an office in Bray and a few sales staff working from there as well as our others based around the country. We intend to invest in advertising across Ireland too so look out as you’ll be hearing about us a lot more now.

Besides the potential for business Twitter helps on a much more personal basis sometimes too.

Recently I saw a tweet from @emmet regarding his dog, Mac, that he had lost in Bray, Co Wicklow.  Now as most readers of this will know I am an animal lover before much else – particularly for dogs. I didn’t know how I could help Emmet but I let my business partner (Barbara Gordon) know as she lives in Bray and is animal mad like me.  Mac had to have been stolen as there was no way he could have escaped from his garden.

To cut a long story short, Barbara’s friend Lesley got on the case and knew who to ask about the missing dogs. Now I’m not pointing fingers here but suspicions run deep as after Barbara and Lesley went to “a camp” and said how many people were on the case little Mac turned up on the streets alone a few days later. Thankfully he was recently reunited with his owners and it’s a very happy ending.  You can see the full story here…Lost dog in Bray

At Whatswhat.ie all three directors are major animal lovers and will always do what we can to help. A great twitterer to follow is @lostfoundpets who provide a great service for lost and found animals in Ireland.

Have you got a special story to tell how Twitter has been great for you?
