Hi
Just to let you know some news regarding myself (Sian Phillips) and Whatswhat.ie. I’m going to be taking a back seat from now on. It has got to the point we have been working towards whereas the whole team are working from the office in Bray. Therefore as planned the accounting and admin function I’ve set up will be taken over from there and be inhouse. I will still be a shareholder and onboard as a consultant whenever needed.
I wouldn’t normally use this blog to complain about something but I feel very strongly about this.

Well that was a weird and slightly scary start to 2010. In 48 hours I had stomach pains, rushed to hospital, got my appendix removed and then home again. It seemed such a whirlwind and dream I thought I’d write about it.
Wow, what a difference 10 years makes.
There aren’t many times in one’s life where you can remember what you were doing at a point of time years ago. Maybe JFK, Elvis, John Lennon and most recently Princess Diana dying are points in history we remember – please note I only remember the last one clearly and what a sad time that was. Happier times people remember are their wedding days, birth of a child or just a fab holiday.
I love dogs. Also cats; but dogs have become my main companions and are now my life. I’m sure some reading this know already so I’m sorry to repeat myself – no need to read on if I’m boring you.
Owning Whatswhat.ie with Barbara, I recently starting thinking that we’re working so much on the business and for the business that maybe we should take a step back and think about what other people consider to be a good online business directory. You kind of get so wrapped up and focussed in what you are doing and what you believe is right that you forget to think about other people’s views.

A few people have asked me about Twitter recently and what it’s all about. I’m certainly not an expert and I wouldn’t profess to be able to teach about it but I do use Twitter daily and think I’ve got the hang of using it in an ‘ok’ way. I guess it can seem quite daunting if you’re from the outside looking in. In fact a few of my friends have said just that and not got past setting up their user name. I’m not going to try to explain how to use it, just my view of what it’s all about. For great advice on setting up an account on Twitter and using it to your best advantage etc please see Keith Bohanna’s blog.
A couple of months ago 3 of us were on Twitter drinking Pinotage and comparing notes. This turned into a party a month later at my house for a few ladies to actually drink wine together rather than virtually. We called it a “twineup” as we are all on twitter. It was a brilliant night and pictures can be seen on my Facebook page.
Since that night we often have a virtual twineup for a laugh.
Last night – 23rd October 2009 – Miriam Ahern sent me a Direct Message saying we should have a twineup and make it big. So we did!!
Grainne from Local Discounts and myself originally met online via the IBW forum and Twitter. Since then we have met up for curry nights and “twineups” and had great fun. We have done business together and become good friends and I believe support each other both personally and professionally. Unfortunately due to our sizes I’m sure we’ll become known as Little & Large (I’m the large one in case anyone is wondering).
I’ve just seen the Late Late Show (16.10.09) and watched in complete disbelief the story of the elderly man that was tied up, brutally beaten and his valuables and family keepsakes completely cleaned out. Then the publican who came downstairs to find his dead father who had been killed during a burglary. And these criminals have not been caught. They were probably watching the show doing a high five!! Or if there is any justice in life they will have met their comeuppance!! If not already I pray that they do very soon.
