As I’ve now taken over the Whatswhat.ie blog from Sian, I should let you know about a couple of minor changes to the blog:
1. We’ve implemented the SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam plugin so all comments now need a CAPTCHA filled in – take that, you bots!
Following feedback, we’ve switched off SI CAPTCHA – apparently it puts real people off commenting too
2. We’ve installed the Sociable plugin to allow posts to be shared in a variety of ways. Thanks to Barry Hand for his analysis of the most popular sharing services in Ireland.

I’ve written before about the power of Twitter and other Social Media sites for helping business and how it has helped Whatswhat.ie, but recently Twitter proved its worth with brilliant results.
We’ve been hinting at great things happening with Whatswhat.ie and now we can let you all know that we have an investor who has also come on board as the Director of Strategy and Innovation. And we met via Twitter.

Ok, we all get newsletters daily, weekly, monthly. Some from companies we can’t remember signing up for and some from companies we can remember. Some automatically land in the Junk folder. What makes us read them?
I believe it depends on a lot of factors but would welcome feedback on your point of view.
I’m delighted to announce the following people have won the prizes we had listed on our Prizes Page on Whatswhat.ie. Also see below for a great way to drive more traffic to your website
Great news – I have 2 free Vodafone Prepay Mobile Broadband Modems to give away. Each comes with 3 months free broadband. More details are below.
How to enter:-
Whatswhat.ie was recently approached by Media Concepts about partnering with them for video production to help companies get more of an online presence. We’d noticed online video’s seemed to be more prominent in advertising so we thought was excellent timing and jumped at the chance.
Yesterday we noticed a lot of new entries adding to Whatswhat.ie mentioning You Magazine of the Irish Mail on Sunday as the referrer. This was news to us as we hadn’t done an interview and knew nothing about it. Barbara called one of the companies to check it out and you can imagine her surprise when we were told we were mentioned on the Problem Page!!! LOL.
Recently we’ve had a few lovely testimonials and thought I’d be “oh so modest” and share them with you. Shameful I know but everyone has to blow their own trumpet at some point
I’ve been recommending my clients to get listed in Whatswhat since early 2008. That’s because it’s PR5 and one of the very few Irish business directories that gives a good clean SEO link to topspots and premium listings. Sian and Barbara are always at the end of the phone and they give a service to Irish business that’s second to none.

Wow, my first blog. And thanks to Ali at http://www.webmentor.ie for all her invaluable help as always.
With so much going on at Whatswhat.ie at the moment Barbara and I thought the best bet to let everyone know of each new development was to write a blog. I can twitter and facebook it all to high heaven but at least with a blog you can all see what’s new – in more than 140 characters!!
You’ll see from the previous piece (not published before) I wrote about the ever annoying Matchmaker Marketing who are still active in tricking Irish Businesses. There are developments with that which I will be blogging about but I’m not ‘allowed’ to say anything as yet. It’s all good news though.
