Whatswhat.ie was recently approached by Media Concepts about partnering with them for video production to help companies get more of an online presence. We’d noticed online video’s seemed to be more prominent in advertising so we thought was excellent timing and jumped at the chance.
A few people have asked me about Twitter recently and what it’s all about. I’m certainly not an expert and I wouldn’t profess to be able to teach about it but I do use Twitter daily and think I’ve got the hang of using it in an ‘ok’ way. I guess it can seem quite daunting if you’re from the outside looking in. In fact a few of my friends have said just that and not got past setting up their user name. I’m not going to try to explain how to use it, just my view of what it’s all about. A couple of months ago 3 of us were on Twitter drinking Pinotage and comparing notes. This turned into a party a month later at my house for a few ladies to actually drink wine together rather than virtually. We called it a “twineup” as we are all on twitter. It was a brilliant night and pictures can be seen on my Facebook page. Since that night we often have a virtual twineup for a laugh. Last night – 23rd October 2009 – Miriam Ahern sent me a Direct Message saying we should have a twineup and make it big. So we did!!
After the year Irish businesses have had it’s time for a PARTY!! So on Saturday 28th November starting at 7pm please come to the Absolute Hotel, Limerick for a great night. Whatswhat.ie have teamed up with Local Discounts to arrange a Xmas party in aid of charity. I’m a born organiser and Grainne has the hotel background to sort out the party. Strangely enough I grew up in the hotel business so maybe that’s how we get on so well. Little and Large as we are sure to become known
Grainne from Local Discounts and myself originally met online via the IBW forum and Twitter. Since then we have met up for curry nights and “twineups” and had great fun. We have done business together and become good friends and I believe support each other both personally and professionally. Unfortunately due to our sizes I’m sure we’ll become known as Little & Large (I’m the large one in case anyone is wondering).
I’ve just seen the Late Late Show (16.10.09) and watched in complete disbelief the story of the elderly man that was tied up, brutally beaten and his valuables and family keepsakes completely cleaned out. Then the publican who came downstairs to find his dead father who had been killed during a burglary. And these criminals have not been caught. They were probably watching the show doing a high five!! Or if there is any justice in life they will have met their comeuppance!! If not already I pray that they do very soon.
Yesterday we noticed a lot of new entries adding to Whatswhat.ie mentioning You Magazine of the Irish Mail on Sunday as the referrer. This was news to us as we hadn’t done an interview and knew nothing about it. Barbara called one of the companies to check it out and you can imagine her surprise when we were told we were mentioned on the Problem Page!!! LOL.
What a busy weekend for Whatswhat! On Friday we had a couple of agents at the PetExpo at the RDS. Saturday daytime Barbara was at the PetExpo and then at the Realex Web awards in the evening (she never stops!!). On Sunday I had a stand at the Greenhouse Business Show in Limerick – yes, Sian out and about!!
Recently we’ve had a few lovely testimonials and thought I’d be “oh so modest” and share them with you. Shameful I know but everyone has to blow their own trumpet at some point I’ve been recommending my clients to get listed in Whatswhat since early 2008. That’s because it’s PR5 and one of the very few Irish business directories that gives a good clean SEO link to topspots and premium listings.
